The History of Calabash Lodge #2679
The Brunswick County, NC affiliation of this national fraternal organization, with 1,250,000 members active
in more than 2,100 lodges in all 50 states, was founded in 1983 when 157 members, many of them Elks who had relocated to the
area, organized a new lodge in Calabash. The original facility was completed in October 1987 and our newest addition was completed
and dedicated in early 2003.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH ACTIVITIES include: Adopt-A-Highway Clean-up - Blood Drive - Boy Scout, Girl Scout and Cub Scout Fund
Raisers - Disaster Relief - Drug Awareness - Flag Day Ceremonies - Contributing to the Calabash EMS Squad and the Volunteer
Fire Department - Holiday Food Baskets - Ladies Auxilliary Bazaars, Card Parties and other fund raising events - The Lodge's
Marching Kazoo and Banjo Band - Veterans Programs Activities and many other programs that require support and reinforcement.
FOR YOUTH, Achievement Awards and Recognition - the Americanism Essay Contest - Basketball Hoop Shoot - Children's
Halloween and Christmas Parties - Summer Camp - Student Field Trips - Poster Contest - Soccer Shoot-Out - Student Scholarship
Grants and Nursing Scholarships to Brunswick County Community College.
